Exceeding Expectations One Patient at a Time

The increasing prevalence of mental illnesses in urban and rural Indian population is of great concern to the medical community. In India there are more than 30 million mentally ill people who account for a quarter of the world's total mentally ill population. The latest studies indicate that mental illness probably affects 8-10% of the western population and 10% of people over 70 years of age. The mentally ill still remain neglected part of the community. The management of these diseases is challenging to both the patients and physician. The considerable morbidity associated with them demands a highly motivated approach to the therapies.

Chetna Psychiatry and De-addiction Centre intend to spread knowledge, stimulate research and promote better management of patients suffering from mental illnesses. Our motivated professionals aim at spreading awareness of these illnesses in various sections of society, with a holistic approach. Surely the deliberations and pointed aims of Chetna are not only to help and benefit the mentally ill but also open new dimensions and new vistas of awareness towards the prevention & control of these silent killer diseases.

Chetna Neuropsychiatry & Drug De-addiction Centre is providing complete care related to mental health for the last 3 decades. The Centre had a humble beginning in the year 1990.

As a part of community services the Centre often launches caregiver workshops on Schizophrenia in which the entire team at Chetna and the caretakers of the patients actively participate. These workshops motivate the caretakers to cope-up and help with their suffering.  Workshops on Alcohol abuse and Epilepsy are also held, from time to time. 

Our centre is also active in spreading awareness about psychiatric disorders in medical professionals, school children and general public. Seminars, workshops, and CME are conducted on various topics in the field of Mental Health.

In last 15 years, this center has served more than 2000 patients, who were admitted and benefited by the Centre. The standard of service offered by the center was duly recognized and the Centre was registered with Delhi Government and granted license under State Mental Health Act (SMHA) in the year 2002.
